In 2010, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection requested support in determining the availability of safer alternatives to replace the use of brominated flame retardants (BFRs), and specifically decabromodiphenyl ether (decaBDE), as flame retardants in plastic pallets.
The webinar will feature John James of ME DEP, who will discuss the process they used to identify appropriate technical criteria for this specific application that would allow them to determine if a safer alternative would be technically feasible. The webinar will also feature Bob Kerr and Ken Soltys of Pure Strategies, the group that did the work to identify alternatives, about how they determined which alternatives would meet the performance requirements for plastic pallets.
