A key component of NEWMOA/IC2’s strategies is recognizing communities with lower socioeconomic status and those with larger minority populations who disproportionately contend with the serious environmental and public health effects of toxic contaminants, various types of waste management facilities, and other impacts. Our work in service of underserved and underrepresented groups is a key aspect of our priorities. NEWMOA/IC2 understands that we are not achieving our mission and realizing our vision until all our communities are free of toxic contaminants and waste.

Our Strategic Plan provides a foundation for us to build a more diverse and inclusive workforce and to draw upon our organizational values to strengthen culture and create a sense of community for staff in support of our workforce development.

Code of Conduct for IC2 Events

NEWMOA/IC2’s Code of Conduct for Events describes the expectations and obligations associated with participation in NEWMOA/IC2’s events. The purpose is to ensure that all attendees experience a safe and comfortable environment when participating in NEWMOA/IC2 activities. As a condition of participation in NEWMOA/IC2 events and activities (including meetings, webinars, workshops, and conferences), all attendees are required to conduct themselves in accordance with the NEWMOA/IC2 Code of Conduct. Alleged violations of this Code of Conduct will be investigated and may result in disciplinary actions, including but not limited to termination of membership on NEWMOA/IC2 groups and exclusion from future NEWMOA/IC2 events, and/or possible notification to the participant’s supervisor. Upon registering for a NEWMOA/IC2 event, participants commit to follow the NEWMOA/IC2 Code of Conduct by agreeing that they will:

  • Be respectful and courteous to NEWMOA/IC2 staff and all attendees at NEWMOA/IC2 events.
  • Not engage in harassment or discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, disability, military service, veteran status, or any other classification protected under applicable law.
  • Maintain high standards of integrity and professional conduct and encourage their peers to act in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Conduct themselves in a manner that benefits them, their employer, and NEWMOA/IC2.
  • Not engage in retaliation against an individual for reporting a possible violation of this Code of Conduct, for cooperating in an investigation, or for helping to achieve the purposes of this policy.
