IC2 Webinar: PFAS: The New Bad Kid on the Block—and getting worst!

In this webinar, Jimmy Seow, Ph.D., discussed fluorine-free alternatives for Class B AFFF foams (liquid and vapor fuel fires), implementation of fluorine-free foams outside of the United States, and environmental impacts of firefighting foams.
Jimmy has more than 30 years’ working experience in industry, government, and research. His published PFAS papers include:

Jimmy was co-author and adviser for the Queensland [Australia] Department of Environment and Heritage Protection Firefighting Foam Use Policy (2016). He is a member of the PFAS subject matter expert group comprising regulators, policy makers, toxicologists, epidemiologists, research scientists, and lawyers from the US, Canada, the UK, and the EU. His academic positions include:
- Adjunct Professor, Murdoch University – PFAS
- Adjunct Associate, Curtin University – Hazmat Response and Management
He is a former member of the Western Australia Emergency Management Committee for Hazmat, CBRN and Marine Oil Spill and the Perth Airport Emergency Management Group.
Jimmy holds a Ph.D. in soil science and catchment hydrology from the University of Western Australia (UWA).
