IC2 Webinar: Chemical Use Disclosure
February 25, 2013
For a number of years, companies and advocates have been calling for greater transparency in the information available on the use of chemicals in products. In response, some state environmental agencies have begun to require reporting on chemical use in certain products and to publish the available data. The IC2 held a “Chemical Use Disclosure” webinar to kick-off a series of discussions designed to help shape the future of these information resources. It featured presentations on:
- The newly released Washington Department of Ecology system for searching for information collected from manufacturers on the use of about 60 chemicals of high concern in children’s products; and
- The Interstate Mercury Education and Reduction Clearinghouse (IMERC) database covering the intentional use of mercury in products.
The IC2 has posted a PDF version of the presentation and made a video of the webinar and follow-up discussion available on NEWMOA’s YouTube channel.
This initiative is made possible with funding support from the John Merck Fund and participation from BizNGO and the GC3.
