IC2 Webinar: GS1 and the Wercs on Collecting Information on Chemical Ingredients

Following the June 28 Walmart-RILA webinar, Carrie Wilkie, Vice President of Standards Management at GS1 US presented a more technical overview of the standards, attributes, and structure of the GS1 Global Data Dictionary. She also discussed some tools and resources available today which may help the IC2 Database Workgroup leverage existing data elements exchanged within supply chains. For example, the GS1 US Attribute Explorer™ is a technology-agnostic, browser-based interactive tool that makes it easy to quickly find the 3,000+ defined attributes in use today that describe a property of a product and how to apply them to a business process. And Kieran Callahan, Director of Retail Sales for UL discussed standardized data elements used by the Wercs to collect information on chemical ingredients from the perspective of a third-party verification and service provider. He also covered some of the challenges in design and data management for real-time and retrospective information.
