IC2 Webinar: Healthy Babies Bright Futures
March 24, 2016
Charlotte Brody, the National Director for Healthy Babies Bright Futures (HBBF), described HBBF’s goals, programs, and work to reduce babies’ exposure to neurotoxicants. HBBF is an alliance of scientists, nonprofit organizations and donors working to create and support initiatives that measurably reduce exposures to neurotoxic chemicals in the first thousand days of development. HBBF’s efforts are inspired and supported by science and data, and designed to help restore the chance for a full life to children who would otherwise face brain-diminishing exposures to toxic chemicals beginning in utero.
In addition to her role as National Director for HBBF, Charlotte serves as the Vice President of Health Initiatives for the BlueGreen Alliance, a partnership of America’s largest labor unions and its most influential environmental organizations to identify ways today’s environmental challenges can create and maintain quality jobs and build a stronger, fairer economy. A registered nurse and the mother of two sons, Charlotte previously served as the Organizing Director for Safer Chemicals Healthy Families and as the Executive Director of Commonweal, Health Care Without Harm, and a Planned Parenthood affiliate in North Carolina. She was a founding staff member of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics; Coming Clean; the Center for Health, Environment and Justice’s Stop Dioxin Exposure Campaign; the North Carolina Coalition for Choice; and the Carolina Brown Lung Association.
