PRISM FAQs

The IC2 PFAS Reporting Information System for Manufacturers (PRISM) is an online platform that supports reporting of information on the presence of intentionally added PFAS in products required by Amara’s Law administered by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

PRISM is optimized for the Chrome browser. It should also work for with Firefox and Safari (MacOS). If you experience issues using a browser other than Chrome, please install and try Chrome before requesting technical support.

Only manufacturers or their associations (trade association, consultant, employee, etc.) that are required to report should register in PRISM. If you want to search reported data, you do not need to register.

New accounts must be approved by the PRISM Administrator. Please allow at least two business days. Delays for account approvals near reporting deadlines should be expected due to the high volume of requests. To avoid wait times, please register well in advance of a reporting due date.

Each company in PRISM must have a designated public contact. The public contact should be the person at your company who can answer questions from members of the public and regulatory agencies regarding the information reported by your company. The public contact’s name, title, and contact information will be publicly disclosed with all company reports.

The public contact is:

• The first user account created and approved for a company
• Responsible for approving further user accounts for their company.

If the public contact has left your company and there are no other users registered, please contact the PRISM Administrator at prism@theic2.org.

If the user you want to deactivate is the public contact, you must first assign a new public contact for your company. The first user created for a company is, by default, the company’s public contact; this can be changed once a second user has been added to the company’s account. PRISM does not allow the user designated as the public contact to be deactivated. If you are unable to deactivate a user for your company, make sure that the user is not the public contact.

When a public contact leaves a company and there are no other registered users approved in the account, contact the PRISM Administrator. The PRISM Administrator will verify that the prior public contact has left the company, and the new contact should be allowed access before updating access for user accounts. This process can take time to avoid delay, we strongly recommend companies register at least one additional user in their account.

At this time, reports can be submitted for the state of Minnesota’s Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) through PRISM.

No. The participating state programs only accept reports through PRISM.

Draft reports in PRISM are assigned numerical Report ID numbers. These Report IDs, along with other report attributes such as Report Name, help manufacturers identify and keep track of draft reports. Once the manufacturer has submitted a report to a state, the report is assigned a unique Disclosure ID. Disclosure IDs start with the relevant two-letter state abbreviation, followed by a hyphen and a seven-character alphanumeric code.

Minnesota assesses reporting fees, and PRISM supports payment of those fees during the reporting process through USBank. There is no additional fee associated with use of PRISM.

The company submitting a report is responsible for paying all applicable reporting fees. When reporting for another company, reimbursement of the reporting fees can be requested from the other company, however that process must occur outside PRISM.

No. Credit card payments must be made through PRISM when reports are submitted. If you receive an email message requesting payment or have questions about payment status, please contact the appropriate state program to confirm.

No, this feature is currently not available in PRISM.

To download data, select the “Export to Excel” button at the top of each result table. The Excel download includes the current queried results. Note that if a query returns zero results, the Excel download contains zero records. If the queried results exceed the capability of Excel, only “Export to .csv” is available.

If comfortable with the technology, the most straightforward approach is to use the API. If not, perform a series of searches using the PRISM public search interface, export the results of each search to Excel or .csv, and combine them in Excel (or another software tool).

Public PRISM data are available via API at https://prism.theic2.org/odata/$metadata. The API does not allow you to submit reports or access reports in the review process.
